Rotator Cuff Surgery – recovery

Rotator cuff surgery recovery is not a quick fix. You need time to heal, and can typically take about six months after surgery of the rotator cuff.

There is a basic sequence of events after rotator cuff surgery. Please remember that everyone is different may progress faster or slower, it does not matter, just make progress is the key.
Follow the advice, follow the rotator cuff tear rehabilitation program and follow that with the strengthening of the rotator cuff and your done.

Immediately after surgery

Immediately after surgery, you will spend some time in recovery. Initial recovery is often one or two hours, but rarely more. And ‘increasingly rare for a stay in hospital overnight, most people are discharged the same day. Usually only stay in hospital until the pain is not adequately controlled.

The arm will be placed in a harness. Typically, this will be a scarf that keeps the arm a little ‘away from your face. This known as a sling removal and is used after surgery for rotator cuff tear more.
The first few days after surgery of the rotator cuff

The first day after surgery is dedicated to control your pain and start rehabilitation. You be prescribed a variety of medications to relieve pain and anti-inflammatory drugs. You may be advised to try alternate analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs, which worked for me no doubt.

One of the most important remedies and more often overlooked is the most natural – the ice. The frequent use of ice to treat the shoulder to help relieve pain and reduce inflammation.
Passive movement

The first six weeks of therapy usually consists of passive movements as exercises. This allows the shoulder to pass without an emphasis on the repair. Isometric exercises can be used to work the muscles without any real movement or contraction.

Your therapist or a doctor or a friend moves the shoulder for you. It should also be trained in a variety of exercises you can do to move the shoulder.

Active movement

Active movement started when there is sufficient healing of tendons. The essential thing at this stage is that the resistance is applied. In other words, you can move the arm, but you can not do anything further.
This is a critical step in the recovery and can last up to 12 weeks. The success of the period after the building depends on action here. Appropriate rehabilitation can be performed safely as not to push too hard too fast, please be patient.

Strengthening

Rotator cuff surgery recovery is completed by a period of consolidation and recovery phase is critical. Because of the initial injury, surgery, and the early stages of recovery, the muscles of the rotator cuff muscles have become weak. It ‘important to build

Finally, the successful recovery can only be obtained once you are pain free and the muscles to regain their former power. You need not be heavy lifting, a rehab program using resistance bands and small weights is all that is necessary.

Each exercise should be repeated a few times or repetitions – representatives, usually 8-12 and repeated three times. The process will result in two major benefits: it will prevent the formation of scar tissue and reduce stiffness. Both are essential for recovery from surgery, the rotator cuff is quick and painless as possible.
