VFW Operation Uplink program enables military personnel and hospitalized veterans to communicate with their families and loved ones by providing them with a free VFW Operation Uplink phone card.

Using contributions from supporters, VFW Operation Uplink purchases phone cards and distributes them to servicemembers and hospitalized veterans who are separated from those they care about.

VFW also hosts “Free Call Days” on special holidays for troops deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Since the program began in 1996, the Veterans of Foreign Wars has provided deployed servicemembers and hospitalized veterans with millions of minutes free phone time. The unique program is part of VFW National Military Services, which includes other initiatives that boost morale, aid struggling military families and encourage troop support.
